Course Contents

This course includes the visuals, techniques and application methods of the ceramic artistic forms

Weekly Schedule

1) What is the ceramics?, Which kind of ceramic clay? What are shaping methods and tools?
2) Ceramic Sludge kneading techniques are demonstrated, ceramic shaping methods are shown, classical and modern ceramic pots and sculptural forms are investigated. The student is asked to design a ceramic vase and teapot form that he can use sausage and plate opening techniques. He decides which type of mud to use in his designs.

4) The application of the designs selected from the sketches prepared according to the shaping technique is started.

These two forms should be started to be dried for the week and after the midterm exam, and should be prepared for biscuit firing in the following weeks. The student is asked to make ceramic sculptural form sketches.
