Course Contents

The sources of Western literature. Ancient Greek, Latin, Italian, Spanish and important artists and works of French literatüre, literary movements.

Weekly Schedule

1) Periods of Greek literature; Homeros, Sappho, Aisopos, Hesiodos.
2) Periods of Greek literature; Sophokles, Aristophanes, Heredotos.
3) Homer's epics the Iliad and Odyssey. Examples of tragedy
4) Latin literature and its respentatives; Çiçero, Horatius, Vergilius.
5) The periods of Italy Literature and important representatives; Dante, Boccacio.
6) The periods Spanish Literature and its representatives.
7) Don Kişot novel of Cervantes.
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Information about classism.
10) The writers of age of reason and works. (Rousseau, Montesquieu, Voltaire)
11) Information about romantism(Hugo, Lamartine, Musset)
12) Victor Hugo's 'Les Misarables' and 'Notre Dame de Paris' novels.
13) Information about realism. (Balzac, Stendhal, Flaubert)
14) Realist novels from French Literature.
15) General evaluation.
16) Final examination
