Felsefi danışmanlık, kökleri ilkçağda bulunan ve hızla büyüyen yeni bir uygulama alanıdır. Deneyimli bir felsefecinin, özellikle; değerler çatıştığında, bir problemin nedenlerinin bulunması bir çıkmazda tekrarlandığında, ya da hayatın beklenmedik bir şekilde anlamsızlaştığı durumlarda kişinin düşünmesine yardım etmesiyle oluşmaktadır.
