2) Identify impact of politic, economic and social changes on architecture.

4) Distinguish structures of Byzantine architecture in Anatolia and Mediterranean basin.

Course Contents

Architecture of the Roman Empire during the Antonines and Severians; Architecture of the Tetrarchy period and monuments of the Early Christianity; monuments of Early Byzantine Architecture at Constantinopolis and its major cities; Monuments of Isauria and Hagia Polyekthus as the forerunners of architecture in the sixth century; architecture of the Macedonian, Comnenian and Palaeologian Dynasties.
