Course Contents

Students will be instructed on the description of ceramic - technological properties, shapes, decoration, the importance of pottery in archaeology, the beginning of ceramic production, production techniques of ceramics, ceramic therminology, ceramic forms, characteristics of the pottery in different Anatolian cultures from the Neolithic until the end of the Iron Ages.

Weekly Schedule

3) Anatolian Neolithic Ceramics according to cultural regions and ceramic groups: West Anatolian-Aegean cultural region, Marmara-Balkan cultural region, Central Anatolian-Central pontic cultural region, Eastern Anatolian-South Caucasian-Northwest Iranian cultural region, Southeastern Anatolian-North Mesopotamian-North Syrian cultural region, South Anatolian-Eastern Mediterranean cultural region
4) Anatolian Early and Middle Chalcolithic Ceramic cultures according to cultural regions and ceramic groups: West Anatolian-Aegean cultural region, Marmara-Balkan cultural region, Central Anatolian-Central pontic cultural region, Eastern Anatolian-South Caucasian-Northwest Iranian cultural region, Southeastern Anatolian-North Mesopotamian-North Syrian cultural region, South Anatolian-Eastern Mediterranean cultural region
5) Anatolian Late Chalcolithic Ceramics according to cultural regions and ceramic groups: West Anatolian-Aegean cultural region, Marmara-Balkan cultural region, Central Anatolian-Central pontic cultural region, Eastern Anatolian-South Caucasian-Northwest Iranian cultural region, Southeastern Anatolian-North Mesopotamian-North Syrian cultural region, South Anatolian-Eastern Mediterranean cultural region
