Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Investigating of biochemical properties of microorganisms
2) Defining ammonia and hydrogen sulfur generation and Fermentation and oxidation of carbohydrates.
3) Explaining Catalase, Oxidase, Coagulates and Phosphates assays and Anaerobe culture methods, water analysis.
4) Calculating live bacteria in petri dishes and in dilution tubes under microscope via turbidometric method.

Investigation of biochemical properties of microorganisms

Weekly Schedule

1) to examine biochemical features of microorganisms
2) IMVIC Test, and gelatine hydrolisis
3) the formation of amonium from pepton and arginnie
4) the formation of hydrogen sulphur
5) the formation of amonium and the reduction of nitrate
6) the reaction of milk with Lithmus
7) sugar fermentation
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) carbohydrate fermentation and oxidation
10) the formation of CO2 from glucose, lipit hydrolisis
11) tween and lecitine hydrolysis
12) catalase, oxidase and coagulate experiemtns
13) water analysis, the methods of anaerob culture
14) total colony counting
15) direct counting in microscope and turbidometric counting
16) Final examination
