Different radiometric age methods for geological materials. Unraveling of geological problems via radiometric age methods.

Weekly Schedule

1) Introduction to isotope geology
2) The internal structure of the atoms
3) Periodic table of elements and chart of the nuclides
4) Decay mechanisms of radioactive atoms
5) Instrumental methods
6) Introduction to geochronological methods, closure temperature etc.
7) The important rocks and minerals for dating methods
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) K-Ar method of dating and interpretation of the results
10) Ar-Ar method of dating and interpretation of the results
11) Rb-Sr method of dating and interpretation of the results
12) U, Th-Pb methods of dating and interpretation of the results
13) C-14 method of dating
14) Sampling in the field
15) Sample preparation in the lab.
16) Final examination
