Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Have and use theoretical knowledge of welding processes,
2) Be acquainted with welding consumables and their structures,
3) Be acquainted with various welding positions, weld grooves, welding standards, and their using in the welding technology,
4) Several defects in weld bead and their effects on the weld quality, selecting to destructive and non-destructive test methods for welded parts,
5) basic knowledge for healty and safety in welding technology

Weld design, weldability, fusion welding processes (oxy-fuel welding, shielded metal arc welding, submerged arc welding, gas shielded arc welding processes, plasma arc welding)

Weekly Schedule

1) Historical background of welding technology, introduction to welding processes
2) Details of joint types using in welding processes, weld grooves and welding positions
3) Introduction to oxy-gas welding process and description of oxy-gas welding process equipments and fuel gases, storage of gases and weld flame
4) Introduction to arc welding processes, explain to welding arc, description of welding power machines
5) Introduction to shielded metal arc welding, explain to welding parameters of the process, covered electrodes, application areas and clasification of electrodes standards according to EN, AWS norms
6) Introduction to gas shielded arc welding processes, description of TIG welding process
7) 1. TERM EXAM

9) Shielding gases and wires which are used at MIG/MAG welding process, selection criterias for gas and wires, national and international standards
10) Introduction to plasma arc welding, equipment and welding consumables, plasma gases and shielding gases, applications of PAW
11) Introduction to submerged arc welding process, advantages and disadvantages of the process, SA welding equipments, fluxes and wires which are widely used at SAW process
12) Weld grooves preparation for SAW process, welding parameters and their effects of weld quality, nwe SAW technics and application areas
13) Essantials of oxy-fuel cutting and applications
14) General information for beam welding processes, introduction to solid state welding processes
15) Weld defects, evaluation and protection
16) Healty and safety in welding, general evaluatin of welding technology course and quiz
