Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) They will learn about the definition and history of metrology and its importance in our lives.
2) They will learn the basic terms and concepts related to metrology and uncertainty and ensure language unity.
3) They will learn about basic and derived units, symbols and spelling rules defined in the International System of Units (SI).
4) They will have the ability to take an analytical approach to measurement uncertainty calculations.
5) For accurate and reliable measurements, they will learn about the requirements defined in the ISO/IEC 17025 standard, which must be fulfilled by calibration/experiment laboratories that perform measurement, calibration, experimentation, and analysis.
6) Gain knowledge of the requirements for calibration and reporting of test results.
7) They will know whether the calibration/test certificate/reports have international validity.

Definition, history and field of activity of metrology, international metrology system, national quality infrastructure and metrology system, general terms and definitions related to metrology, International System of Units (SI), SI Units and spelling rules, measurement uncertainty calculation method, calibration/experiment laboratories requirements for calibration and reporting of test results.
