Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) To be able to conceptualize about data, personal data, the data controller, and a data subject
2) To track the international instruments on the protection of personal data chronologically and to grasp the right to the protection of personal data as a human right in this development process
3) To track the development of the legislation on the protection of personal data in Turkey and to interpret the right to protect personal data as a constitutional right in this development process.
4) To be able to introduce the international, regional, and national normative sources of the right to personal data protection.
5) Grasp of the opportunities that the right to personal data protection provides to the person whose data is processed: Right of access, right to rectification, right to erasure (right to be forgotten), right to object
6) Grasp of the information on the opportunities provided by the right to personal data protection in Turkish law and the relevant judicial and non-judicial means.

Course Contents

Demonstrating in the context of national and international that the right to data protection is one of the fundamental human rights of all individuals with regard to processing of personal data and identifying the area and opportunities that this right gives to the data subject.
