Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Define Roman law and explain its influence on contemporary private law systems.
2) Classify the historical periods of Roman law and compare these periods.
3) Knows the sources of Roman law and has information about Corpus Juris Civilis, which is the most important source of Roman law.
4) Defines the concepts of rights and law and has information about the types of rights.
5) Makes distinctions between public law - private law, ius civile - ius gentium - ius honorarium and has knowledge about the activities of the praetor that influenced the development of Roman law.
6) Explain the concept of person and express the conditions of being a person.
7) Defines the concept of legal action, can specify its types and defines legal action capacity by listing its conditions.
8) Recognizes the different judicial systems that are valid under the protection of rights in Roman law and has information about the development process of enforcement law.

Course Contents

To examine the social, political, economic and historical conditions that led to the emergence of concepts and rules from Roman Law to contemporary law, to reveal the development and change processes of these concepts and rules, and to gain competence and skills in the creation, development and interpretation of legal rules.
