1) Students will acquire knowledge of basic economic concepts and principles, enabling them to analyze economic events and make informed economic decisions.

Course Contents

The course content covers how scarcity of resources and unlimited needs are related to economic decision-making and opportunity costs. It examines the determination of demand and supply, the functioning of the market mechanism, and the roles of economic agents, namely individuals, firms, and the government. The course provides an in-depth knowledge of both microeconomics and macroeconomics. Microeconomics includes topics such as consumer behavior, demand theory, production, cost theory, firm behavior, and different market structures. On the other hand, macroeconomics addresses national income measurement, economic growth, the monetary and banking system, inflation, and unemployment, among other economic aggregates. Additionally, the course covers international economics, discussing international trade theory and policies, exchange rates, and international finance and capital movements.
