Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Learns the basic information about the anatomical structure and functions of the heart, vessels and lungs.
2) Defines the initiation and conduction of cardiac electrical activity and learns its relationship with the electrocardiogram
3) Describes the circulatory system and hemodynamic principles, cardiac cycle and cardiac output
4) Explains the organization of the circulatory system, systemic and pulmonary circulations. Explains the regulation of arterial pressure.
5) Defines heart sounds and foci.
6) Comprehends the composition of blood and its relationship with heart tissue.
7) Measures EKG and blood pressure measurement, knowing the mechanisms in its formation by using their basic knowledge. Fixes possible application errors.
8) Explains the components of Normal Electrocardiogram (ECG).
9) Defines hematopoiesis. Comprehends the production of Blood Cells at different stages of development before and after birth.
10) Defines the components of blood (erythrocyte, leukocyte, thrombocyte, ions, proteins) by giving their normal values. Correlates the erythrocyte count, hematocrit, and hemoglobin concentration.
11) Makes erythrocyte, leukocyte count (manual). Interprets the hemogram report at a basic level.
12) Explains how red blood cell surface antigens form A, B, O blood typing and Rh factor. Defines the "general donor" and "general recipient" blood type based on these antigens,
13) Knows transfusion reactions and establishes relationships with clinical situations. Applies the initial clinical behavior that will reduce the severity of the reaction.
14) Defines the pathophysiology of Hemostasis and Injury, Bleeding, Shock.
15) Explains how to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide in blood.
16) Defines the structures in the respiratory system in order and knows the mechanisms of the respiratory system.
17) Knows the changes observed in gas pressures during the passage of air through the respiratory tract, establishes the relationship between current and resistance.
18) Interprets the factors regulating ventilation mechanics (elastic structure of the lungs and negative intrathoracic pressure etc.) and pulmonary function tests at the basic level.
19) Interprets the Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide gas exchange in the lungs and the biochemical reactions that occur during the transport of these gases to the tissues.
20) Defines the centers in the brain stem regulating respiratory activity, their functioning, the structures and functions of peripheral and central chemoreceptors that carry data to these centers, and comprehends the relationship of these systems with changes in exercise, altitude and underwater.
21) Knows the features and functions of cells that play a role in the immune response, gains information about the embryology and histology of lymphoreticular organs.
22) Says the definition of evidence-based medicine, counts the components of evidence-based medicine, creates an answerable clinical question and counts the types of research that are suitable for the answer to an answerable clinical question.
23) Receives venous blood with CSL studies.
24) Relates clinical conditions of circulatory-respiratory systems with clinical correlation courses and basic medicine courses.
25) Follows up-to-date literature and gains the necessary language proficiency to communicate with foreign colleagues.
