Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Knows the methods used in the radiological examination of the systems, indications and contraindications.
2) Knows which or in which order the radiological examinations will be requested in the face of any symptom.
3) Recognizes the basic radiological findings and elementary lesions in direct radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance and angiography examinations.
4) Analyses posteroanterary chest X-ray, bone graphs and direct abdominal X-rays; recognized the indications of advanced examination methods.
5) Makes the radiological differential diagnosis by combining the history, clinical and laboratory findings of the patient with radiological findings.
6) Selects the methods in accordance with cost-effectiveness principle.
7) Selects as the procedures as little invasive as possible.

Course Contents

To teach how the methods used in the radiological examination of systems are made, indications and contraindications. To teach which or which radiological examinations should be requested in the face of any symptom or finding, in which order. To introduce basic radiological findings and elementary lesions in radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance and angiography examinations. At the end of the internship, students will be able to read posteroanterior chest X-rays, bone X-rays and direct abdominal X-rays; It is also aimed to have information about the indications of advanced examination methods. To gain the ability to make radiological differential diagnosis by combining the patient's history, clinical and laboratory findings with radiological findings. To gain the attitude of preferring the studies in accordance with the cost-effectiveness principle. To gain the attitude of preferring less invasive methods as much as possible.
