Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Performs the examine emergency or elective surgery patients and makes the differential diagnosis by combining the history, clinical and laboratory findings of the patients with radiological findings.
2) Puts the indications for surgical treatment on patients when necessary.
3) Recognizes and treats breast diseases, determines the approach algorithm and medical and surgical treatment options for the mass in the breast.
4) Identifies the signs and symptoms of benign and malignant diseases of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, recognizes the diagnosis and surgical treatment methods.
5) Identifies the signs and symptoms of benign and malignant diseases of the endocrine system, recognizes the diagnosis and surgical treatment methods.
6) Recognizes the diagnosis and treatment of acid-base balance and fluid electrolyte deficiencies.
7) Identifies the signs and symptoms of benign and malignant diseases of the hepatobiliary system, recognizes the diagnosis and surgical treatment methods.
8) Gains the ability to examine ventral, incisional and inguinal hernias and recognizes surgical treatment options.
9) Recognizes the approach and treatment algorithms in a trauma patient and a patient presenting with shock.
10) Observes the endoscopy and ERCP procedures and the operations in the operating room during their implementation.
11) Acquires the knowledge and experience in patient follow-up and treatment planning by accompanying patient visits in the general surgery service. Gains the experience by accompanying the medical and interventional procedures applied in the service.
12) Gains the knowledge and experience by caring for patients in general surgery outpatient clinics with the responsible lecturer and outpatient clinic assistants. Gains the knowledge and experience by applying procedures related to wound care, suturing and suturing, drain control and follow-up in the dressing room in outpatient clinics.
13) Acquires both theoretical and practical knowledge and experience by accompanying the operations performed in the general surgery operating room.
14) Gainis the knowledge and experience about upper and lower gastrointestinal system endoscopy by participating in procedures in the general surgery endoscopy unit.
15) Increases the knowledge and skills of the patients who will be taken to emergency surgery by staying in the clinic, by participating in the follow-up and treatment of the service patients.

Course Contents

Emergency medical internship work and training scheme introductory meeting Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Airway management Toxicological emergencies Multi-trauma patient triage approach of General Surgery internship period of 4 weeks. - Intern doctors, the first year of general surgery internship clinic assistants shall be subject to the same work program.
