Research Methods and Techniques

Course Contents

Definition of a scientific research; the parts of an academic work: introduction, development and conclusion; the methods to follow: hypothesis, specification on a subject, outline and research plan, bibliography and library use, and rules and methods of typing

Weekly Schedule

1) Information of Course objectives and content; Explanation of concepts the research, the science- the scientific method.
2) Access to scientific knowledge, types of sources of information, Search engines and indexes.
3) PRACTICE: Library visit
4) The Methods of Research Approach and Design (Qualitative, quantitative, mixed research approaches) are applied in the course.
5) The research problem, problem sentence, sub-problems, Selection of the research topic, subject to limitation, hypothesis, assumptions, limitations and definitions
6) The data collection tools (test, questionnaire, interview, observation, documents)
7) Research population and sampling, data analysis, validity and reliability
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Rules of Academic Writing: foreword, introduction, chapters, conclusion preparation techniques
10) Choosing a research topic (topic, problem sentence sub-problems, hypothesis, population and sampling)
11) Academic Writing Rules: Statements, figures, abbreviations, and reference list
12) Methods of quoting and giving references
13) To read and understand scientific texts
14) Assessment of homework in the classroom
15) To read and understand scientific texts
16) Final examination
