Ceramic Decor Techniques

Course Contents

Application of art of ceramics with traditional methods throughout history will be told; patterns and technical specifications of ceramic will be introduced and then practices will be carried out with underglaze technique.

Weekly Schedule

1) Introduction of the purpose of the course, materials, method and technique
2) Brief history and introduction of Turkish Tile Art, explanation of tile decoration techniques in the historical process
3) Explaining the motif and composition features used in Turkish Tile Art. Motif exercises with India ink and brush on sketch paper
4) Motif exercises with India ink and brush on sketch paper
5) 20x20 cm tile biscuit tile work (transferring the work onto the baked tile with charcoal powder and drawing the contours)
