Course Contents

In this course, which includes technical and practical studies, information about art movements and groups after 1945-Action, Happening, Expedient, Terrestrial Art, Conceptual Art, Body Art, Fluxus etc.- are given and works in these concepts are analysed. Besides, the artistic projects which are developed individually by the students are evaluated according to their subject, design and practice.

Weekly Schedule

1) European art during and folllowing the year 1900, The reasons why the course is more about the history of anarcism rather than that of art. Relationshipsacross genres, manifestations and criteria for timeless art.
2) Changes in art every two decades. Difficulty in appreciation of arts due to personal perceptions two deades ago, and the need to keep up with daily perceptions in order to appreciate art and impossibility of persistent art without words, which come into existence through daily interactions.
3) What is Context? Projected display of works of selected artists and the contexts and elicit possible contexts from students. Reflecting upon such artists as Daniel Buren, Catellan, Suh Do Hoh, Alicia Framis, Serkan Ozkaya, Ron Mueck, Louis Bourgeois, Daniel Buren, Damien Hirst, Christo who placed their distinct realities in distinct contexts and understand the criteria for persistence works of art through genres and asrtists that shaped modern art.
