Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Learn to use the music instruments and their sounds in the music lessons at school as piano, guitar, block flute, pitched and unpitched percussion instruments
2) To e able to assess the own development as music teacher and the development of the students
3) To be able to understand the ways of becoming a good music teacher
4) To be able to feel the behaviours of becomming a good music teacher
5) To be able to understand the principles and aims in the Turkish Education System
6) To be able to understand the basic approach of the teaching programs in the music lessons at school
7) To be able to prepare lesson plans according to the teaching program approach used in music lessons at school
8) For the use in music education, to use the developped materials
9) To be able to recognize the lesson boks used in the music education

Course Contents

The methods and approches of teaching music; it deals with the approaches and teaching phases of Dalcroze, Kodaly, Orff and Suzuki.

Weekly Schedule

1) To speak about the content of the lesson, repeat of the previous semester. What should the music teacher do in the class?
2) Education of the voice, transition to polyphony and education of canon
3) Information about instrument education, how should instrument education be proceeded? What do you comprehend when speaking of instruments? What can you do in the class?
4) Speaking about the education programs in Turkey and introduction of the education programs for music lessons in primary and secondary schools and giving information about the learning and teaching period and the measure and assessment methods and the association with the teaching phases of Dalcroze, Orff and Kodaly
5) Talking about development of material and the production of education material and the presentation of the material samples to be used in teaching (electronical material, sources to benefit off, ect.) Talking about the reading of the annual plan
