Course Contents

The main subjects of the sociology, such as social structures, culture, criminality, law, economy, politics and religions are tought in this subject.

Weekly Schedule

1) General information on the course; defining the purposes and curriculum of the class.
2) Introduction to sociology and an overview of the history of sociology.
3) An overview of theories of sociology from past to the present.
4) How to define "society"? An historical outline of types of societies.
5) Culture and various cultural patterns.
6) What is "socialization"? An overview of different types of society and socialization.
7) An overview of types of social stratification.
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Constitution of groups and organizations, differentation of organizations in traditional and modern societies.
10) Sociology of mass communication; organizational structure of visual, digital and print media.
11) Religion as a sociall fact, different religions and believes.
12) "Family" as a social institution and different types of family.
13) Sociological perspectives on cities, crime, violence and terror.
14) Sociological methodology and developing sociological a point of view.
15) General assessment on subjects treated during the term.
