Course Contents

Anatolian Seljuks in the process until the late Ottoman period in Turkey, resulting in some building types, decorative elements and building technologies will be discussed.

Weekly Schedule

1) The first mosques, madrasas, sectarian structures were built by Turks in Anatolia.
2) Samples of vaults, mausoleum, caravanserai and bath.
3) Samples of civil architecture to be determined.
4) Methods and types of decoration in architecture of early period.
5) The settlement process of nomads: Society culture and building program in 14th. century.
6) Differentiation of Ottoman Architecture in period of Turkmen principality.
7) Sects, lodges and almonries.
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Single-domed mosques, grand mosques and architecture in the context of the conquest of istanbul.
10) Ottoman in anniversary of the era and Renaissance world.
11) Mimar Sinan and the buildings for family of Kanuni.
12) Mimar Sinan's design principles of monumental buildings and constructions of space
13) Process of westernization and symbol buildings in Ottoman architecture.
14) The emergence of the I. National Architecture and late periods of Ottoman Empire
