Course Contents

The concepts of production, economy and technology, their interrelations, actors of construction process in Turkey, their jurisdictions and responsibilities, the evolution of construction sector in Turkey, the management of design and construction phases, project management techniques, quantity survey in construction, analysis applications, bidding laws and their applications.

Weekly Schedule

1) Meeting with students General information about course
2) The distribution of projects for the practice and explanation of projects.
3) Item codes, units, definition of site list, preparation of sample site list.
4) Budget estimate, explanation of quantity survey and how to do quantity survey
5) Explanation of quantity survey of reinforced concrete and its practices (foundation and basement)
6) Explanation of quantity survey of reinforced concrete and the practices (foundation and basement)
7) Explanation of quantity survey of brick wall in practice
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Solution of questions asked during midterm exams and repetition of all subjects.
10) Continuing of quantity survey of brick wall and its practice.
11) Explanation of quantity survey of plaster, coating and whitewashing
12) Lecture about slab, coating of walls; door, production of windows and coating, handles of door,window,hinge, locks, roof and other quantity surveys.
13) Explanation of iron quantity survey with a sample project and how to use iron quantity survey forms.
14) Summary of estimation, preparation of progress payments, informing students about bidding law, bidding files, agreements. Explaining how to prepare bidding agreement briefly.
15) Repetition of all the subjects. Responding the questions from students.
16) Final examination
