Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
1) Explain the physiology of normal birth, stages and to be able to explain the situations on the mother that may occur.
2) Apply initiatives to reduce the birh pain and to prepare the mother/family to birth.
3) Apply pregnant woman and her family and on stages of normal birth to give a specific care.
4) Manage of home birth.
5) Care mothers, newbors and the families physiological and psychological care needs on postpartum period.
6) Make breastfeeding counseling.
7) Apply effective midwifery care to facilitate prenatal attachment.
8) Manages all stages of normal birth under his / her powers and responsibilities.
9) Knows safe motherhood practices and implements midwifery initiatives.

Normal labor and birth, Factors that influence normal labor and birth, Physiology o normal labor and birth pain during normal labor and birth, Signs preceding labor, Pain during labor and birth, Theory of pain, Factors influencing pain, Natural birth, Pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic management of labor pain, Assesment of birth of mothers, Stages of the normal labor and birth, Episiotomy, Use of parthograf, Cae of mother in puerperium period, Physiology of puerperium, Postpartum psychological evaluation, Training and guidance to parents, Lactation and breastfeeding, Breastfeeding counseling motherhood, Home birth and follow-up of maternity.
