Course Contents

The content of this course includes concepts and practices related to basic principles and practices in nursing, physical examination methods, patient care practices and nursing process steps in care delivery.

Weekly Schedule

1) Course Description: Introduction, goal and learning outcomes. Admission and discharge of the patient from the hospital.
2) Maintaning a safe environment ( asepsis and infection control)
3) Body mechanics and movement requirement. Physical examination of the musculoskeletal system.
4) Enteral and parenteral drug administrations-1
5) Enteral and parenteral drug administrations-2
6) Respiratory system applications. Physical examination of respiratory system.
7) Digestive system applications. Physical examination of digestive system.
8) Urinary system applications. Fluid electrolyte balance. Physical examination of urinary system.
9) Pain and nursing interventions
10) Sleep and approach to the individual with sleep problems.
11) Fluid electrolyte balance. Blood transfusion.
12) Coping with death and loss, terminal patient care.
13) Nursing process case study I
