1) Define science, social science and sociology and perspectives of sociology.
2) Recognize organisation of human relationship and culture, the interaction between individual and society.
3) Explain group, organisation, types of social control and social categorisation.
4) Explain the location of person in society, social classes, social issues, social institutions, population, culture etc.
5) Discuss and assess current problems critically.
6) Determine basic research methods using in sociology
7) Determine family, its functions and changes in family.

Course Contents

In this course, basic concepts of sociology in theoretical frame of sociological thinking will be explained. Aims of sociology will be examined. Issues such as position of individual in a larger society, social classes, social events, social institutions, alliances, residential areas and forms, population, culture will be covered in the course.
