Introduction to general pathology. Pathology laboratory. Safety in Pathology laboratory. Basic methods and tissue preparation in a pathology laboratory. Tissue handling for histology and cytology in a pathology laboratory. Microscopy and dying methods. Biological and psycological basis of disease. Tissue injury and repair, aging and adaptation, intracellular accumlulations. Haemodinamic disorders. Acute and chronic inflammation. Immunology, hypersensitivity reactions and autoimmune diseases. Neoplasia: classification, epidemiology and terminology. Tumor biology, molecular and genetic basis carcinogenesis, carcinogens. Diagnosis and prevention of neoplasia and basic principles of treatment of cancer.
