Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Have a detailed knowledge of the pathogenesis of periapical cyst formation.
2) Discuss the properties and role of intracanal, interappointment medicaments ve review the rationale and objectives of endodontic irrigation.
3) Describe techniques, step-by-step, for standardized and flaring (step-back and/or crown-down) preparations.
4) Discuss nickel-titanium rotary instruments and how the physical properties of this metal affect cleaning and shaping.
5) Know the success criteria in Endodontics.
6) Know the flora of the root canal and periradicular lesions.
7) Explain the treatment options for most common types of root resorption.
8) Know the principles of geriatric endodontic procedures.
9) Explain the healing of periapical structures.
10) Define the physiological and anatomical changes that take place in the pulpo-dentinal complex of teeth as a result of dental caries.
