Course Contents

Investigation of solar energy and relations with other renewable energy sources. Basic information such as solar movement, solar geometry and sun angles and so on. Types of radiation, calculations on the total solar radiation to the earth and sloping surfaces on the earth. Types of solar and liquid solar collectors, working systems (direct and indirect systems, natural and forced systems, vacuum tube and heat pipe systems), properties, connection forms (parallel and serial connection) and their efficiencies. Flat plate solar collector systems. Absorber surfaces used in solar collectors. PV/T (PhotoVoltaic-Thermal) Hybrid Collectors. Recognition of various solar energy applications. Learning of solar collector area, pipe diameter and pump capacity and design of solar energy systems for heating and hot water preparation systems
