Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) To be able to define the basic concepts of strength, stress, strain and their types. To be able to determine the stress and strain according to the type of coercion.
2) To be able to explain the Hooke law, the relationship between stress and strain and the safety stress.
3) To be able to draw section effect (normal force, shear force, bending moment and torsion moment) diagrams.
4) To be able to solve the strength problems related to tensile, compression, bending, torsion coercions and compound stress.
5) To be able to describe buckling and to solve related problems.
6) To be able to do stress and strain analysis in the various engineering systems and to solve the strength problems.
