1) Explain the basic concepts of thermodynamics.
2) Explain energy conversions methods and the first law of thermodynamics, and solve the associated problems.
3) Explain the properties of pure substances.
4) Perform mass and energy analysis of controlvolumes, and solve associated problems.
5) Explain the second law of thermodynamics andapply it to the problems.
6) Explain entropy and apply entropy balanceequation to closed systems / control volumes.

Course Contents

Introduction to thermodynamics and basic principles, energy conversions and general energy analysis, properties of pure substances, mass and energy analysis for closed systems, mass and energy analysis for control volumes, second law of thermodynamics, entropy, applications of entropy balance equation to closed systems and control volumes.
