Course Contents

Wireless networks overview, basics of communication, wireless transmission basics (transmission media, antennas, signal encoding, etc.), Wireless environment characteristics and constraints, wireless media access mechanisms, wireless network topologies and cellular network architecture, the classification of a wireless network: 1G, 2G, 3G 4G and 5G systems, wireless personal area networks (Bluetooth, IRDA, Zigbee, HomeRF and others), wireless sensor / actuator networks, wireless local area networks (IEEE 802.11x family, HiperLAN), wireless wide area networks (GSM / 3G / 4G / 5G), wireless networks, mobility (mobility), wireless network, application examples, project presentations
