Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) To comprehend the place and importance of religion and sense of belief in human life
2) To realize the pivotal role of faith in Islam.;
3) To explain the main characteristics of Islamic creeds.;
4) To obtain sound and enough knowledge about the concept of God in Islam.;
5) To apprehend the place of prophethood in religion and fundamentals of a sound concept of prophethood.;
6) To gain knowledge about angels and other unseen beings, and to recognize improper convictions about them.;
7) To realize the unity of fundamental messages of all holy boks, and to compare the Qur’an with the others in terms of contents and characteristics
8) To gain knowledge about the afterlife and its stages.;
9) To present ideas about the effects of belief in afterlife on human life.;
10) To examine the issue of human freedom in terms of belief in predestination

Detailed examinationand analysis of the basic beliefs of Islam

Weekly Schedule

1) 1 Definition of religion, its essence and sociological aspect.
2) 2 The place of Islam among other religions, its characteristics, aims, and goals.
3) The place of creed in religion, and characteristics of Islamic creed.
4) sources of Islamic creed.
5) The matter of faith, and its implications on individual and the society.
6) Belief in God, His existence and uniqueness.
7) The names and attributes of God.
8) Mid Term Exam
9) Fate and predestination, and the problems of human acts and human freedom in this context.
10) The importance of prophethood; the need to prophets, their attributes and miracles.
11) Belief in holy books; the concept of holy scripture; the revelation as a means of communication between God and man.
12) The place of the Qur’an among other holy boks and its characteristics. .
13) The unseen beings: Angel, genie, satan, and spirit.
14) The hereafter; the intermediate realm; the stages of afterlife. .
15) Heaven and hell; the vision of God.
