Contemporary religious currents/movements in the Islamic world, their history, ideas, acts, effects

Weekly Schedule

1) The history, background and characteristics of sectarianism in Islam
2) Determining the terminology: classifications such as religion, sect, denomination, order, current, movement, religious group and the differences between them; the methodology of the study of contemporary Islamic currents/movements
3) The process that prepared contemporary Islamic currents/movements: Revival (Ihya) movements in Islamic world
4) Conservatism: The conservatism of Salafism: Historical development (Ashab al-hadith, Ibn Taymiyya, Wahhabism)
5) Modern Salafism: Suudi Salafism, Jihadi Salafism (al-Qaida, ISIS, etc), Political Salafism
6) Conservatism of Madrasa: Diyobandiya/Taliban Movement & Shii Madrasa Tradition and Iran
7) Conservatism of Sufi Order/Tariqa
