Course Contents

History of painting, sculpture and architechture for the period of the Prehistoric Egypt, the Ancient Near East, the Aegean, Ancient Greek, Etruscan, Ancient Rome, Early Christian, Byzantine, Early Medieval age, Gothic and Renaissance Periods.

12) Early Medieval Art: Historical background, innovations in Early Medieval painting, characteristics of Saxon, Viking, Carolingian and Ottonian art with the major works. Romanesque Art: Historical background, general information about the Romanesque architecture, painting and sculpture with the major works.
13) Gothic Art: Historical background, innovations and characteristcs of Gothic architecture with major works. General information about the Gothic painting and the sculpture with major works.
14) Early Renaissance in Itlay: General information about the birth of the Renaissance. General information and major works of architecture, painting and sculpture in Ferrara, Florence, Mantua, Naples, Rome, Venice and so on in between 1400-1500
15) Early and Later Renaissance in Northern Europe: From 1400 till 1600, general idea and major works on architecture, painting and sculpture in Flanders, Holland, Germany and France. Review
