Course Contents

Definition and classification of materials, atomic structure and bond forces, the melting and solidification behavior, Iron-Carbon (Fe-C) equilibrium diagram, non-ferrous metals, steel and steel standards

2) Atomic structure, Interatomic bonds
3) Crystal structures, Crystal structure defects
4) Atomic diffusion
5) Structure of alloys and solidification
6) Cooling curve of pure iron, Iron-carbon phase diagrams
7) Iron-cementite phase diagram
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Heat treatments applied to steels
10) Heat treatments applied to steels and representation them on the iron-carbon diagram.
11) The non-ferrous metals which widely used in industrial areas, the use areas and selection of these metals according to purposes.

13) The steel standards in our country and in the world and interpretation of these standards
