Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Recognize potential hazards associated with the use of electricity and take required precautions in the workshop.
2) Define and measure the electrical quantities and such as current, voltage, resistance, power, work, inductance, capacitance, frequency etc.
3) Explain the structure and the operation principles of oscilloscope and measure the electrical quantities such as amplitude, period, frequency and phase difference etc with oscilloscope.
4) Use the signal generators used for testing and experimenting.
5) Explain the effects of the static electric to electrostatical sensitive equipments and take the necessary precautions.

Work safety. Workshop safety. Use of electricity. Fire. First aid. Fundamentals of measurement and measurement devices. Units. Standards. Measurement. Calibration. Types of errors. Errors of measurement and equipment characteristic. Direct current measurements. Alternative current measurements. RMS and average value measurements. Maximum value measurements. Circuit elements and measuring their parameters. Measurements with oscilloscope. Oscilloscope: structure, functions, introduction to screen and control panel. Direct current and alternative current period and frequency measurements. Power and energy measurements.
