1) Explain gas laws, ideal gas equation and law of diffusion and make related calculations.
2) Calculate the enthalpy changes in chemical reactions.
3) Write the reaction rate expressions of chemical reactions.
4) Explain the factors affecting the reaction rate of chemical reactions and gives reasons.
5) Make the chemical calculations related to the equilibrium constant.
6) Write the electrochemical cell expressions, calculate the electromotive force of a electrochemical cell.
7) Explain the radioactivity, half life, nuclear fission and nuclear fusion terms.
8) Make the classification of organic compounds and explain their structures and basic properties.

Course Contents

This course covers basic properties of gases, liquids and solids, changes in the state of matter, gas laws and ideal gas equation, diffusion of gases, energy changes in chemical reactions, conservation of energy, enthalpy changes, chemical kinetics, reaction rate, factors affecting reaction rate, reaction rate expressions, chemical equilibria, equilibrium law and equilibrium constant, effects of changing concentration, pressure and temperature upon equilibria, acid-base equilibria, acids and bases in aqueous solution, buffer solutions, acid-base indicators, electrochemistry, electrodes and electrochemical cell expressions, Faraday laws, electromotive force, electrolysis, radioactivity, types of radioactive radiation, radioactivity measurements, half life, nuclear fission and nuclear fusion, classification of organic compounds, structures and basic properties of each class of organic compounds.
