General Chemistry I and General Chemistry II
This course includes fundamental concepts, defining qualitative and quantitative analysis, discussing the analytical process and various types of analyses, basic procedures, describing weighing techniques, describing the methods of measuring and handling liquids, sampling. Gravimetric analysis, discuss the procedures for gravimetric analysis, determine calcium as the oxalate gravimetrically. Volumetric analysis, describe the procedures for performing titrations, define various types of titrations. Define “end point” and “equivalence point”, discuss non-aqueous titrations. Potantiometric analysis, discuss the principles and equipment required to perform potentiometric and electrochemical analysis and conduct experiments. Oxidation - reduction analysis, discuss the procedures for redox titrations, titrate iron by redox titration, perform the calculations required for data from redox titrations. Spectrophotometric analysis, discuss the nature electromagnetic radiation, discuss the electromagnetic spectrum, perform calculations involving beer’s law.
