Course Contents

The aim of these lessons is to provide students with background information on the structure, moleculer and structural formulas, nomenclature(IUPAC and common),properties, commercial importance of hydrocarbons and ASTM methods of analysis of petroleum and petrochemicals.

Weekly Schedule

1) Introduction to the chemical reaktions.
2) Administrations based on chemical reaction calculations, efficiency calculations.
3) Examples of efficiency calculations, and chemical reactions.
4) Disclosure of the decomposition process. (Filter, sedimentation, flotation, distillation, crystallization)
5) Introduction to flow charts, chemical industry classifications.
6) Qualitative, quantitative, computing and symbol of the combined flow şemaları.Bunlarda açıklanması.Kütle balance.
7) Detailed explanations of complex flow charts and relevant examples are solved.

9) Hardness and softening of water .

11) Main methods for softening water. Lime-soda method (precipitation). Water-soda method. Removal of free carbon dioxide and oxygen from water.
12) Zeolyte-permutate method. Phosphate method. Softening method with ion changing resins.
13) German, French and English hardness, turning them into each other and solving relevant examples.
14) Giving examples about water softening methods and their solutions.
15) Industrial use of hydraulic and pneumatic transport systems.
16) Final examination
