General Chemistry
This course includes organic chemistry, classification of hydrocarbons, bonding of carbon in organic compounds, Drawing 's' and 'p' orbitals (sp, sp2,sp3 hybridization). Molecular and structural formulas (condensed and open line) for simple organic compounds. Isomerism and resonance forms of organic compounds. Saturated hydrocarbons ,alkanes, cycloalkanes. Common and IUPAC nomenclature. Conformations ,physical and chemical properties and chemical reactions. Unsaturated hydrocarbons, nomenclature, structure, properties and simple reactions of alkenes. Reaction mechanism (trans electrophilic addition) of alkenes. Nomenclature, structure, properties and simple reactions of alkynes. Aromatic hydrocarbons ,structure of benzene ring and stability due to resonance. Common and IUPAC nomenclature of aromatic hydrocarbons. Alkyl halides.
