Course Contents

This course includes general properties of aquatic ecosystems, water sources and their usage according to quality satndarts, parameters of water quality, classification of water sources, term of water pollution, it's sources, primary water pollutants and their effects on aquatic ecosystems. Pollution control strategies for river and lakes. Regulations and standarts about water pollution control and their application examples.

2) Physical, chemical and biological features aquatic ecosystems.
3) Water pollution and causes of water pollution.
4) Primary water pollutants, their features and effects on aquatic ecosystems.
5) Primary water pollutants, their features and their effects on water ecosystems.
6) Organic substances of aquatic environment and their determination.
7) Parameters TOC, BOD, COD
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Pollution of lakes and methods related to the prevention of lakes.
10) Pollution of ground water, and strategies related to the prevention of ground water.
11) Microbial pollution and techniques used for determination of microbial pollution.
12) Laws and regulations released so as to control water pollution in Turkey
