1) Define the general characteristics of human pathogenic microorganisms.
2) Implement methods of sampling for bacteriological and mycological cultures.
3) Interpret the results of antibiotic susceptibility tests.
4) Apply methods of antisepsis, sterilization and disinfection.
5) Apply antiseptic methods of superficial fungal infections and infective wounds of the foot.
6) Explain the basic concepts of genetics and antimicrobial resistance of microorganisms.
7) Define the general characteristics of pathogenic fungi that cause diseases of the foot.
8) Explain the causes and prevention methods of infectious diseases for foot patients.

Course Contents

Describe the general characteristics of microorganisms and pathogenic micro-organisms. Relationships between microorganisms and micro-organisms and flora impacts. Head and foot infection transmission and prevention of infectious factors explaining factors. Patients with foot infections, methods of sample collection and disclosure of antisepsis.

Weekly Schedule

1) Introduction to Basic Microbiology and the importance of course related to Podology.
2) General characteristics and classification of pathogenic microorganisms,
3) Bacterial cell structure, physiological characteristics and the manufacture,
4) Relationships between microorganisms and micro-organisms and flora
5) General characteristics of infections and transmission routes of infection.
6) Workplace safety, sterile laboratory study, the use of microscopes and microscopy methods.
7) Foot diseases, patients, and the taking of samples sending to the laboratory.
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Antibiotic susceptibility testing techniques and evaluate the results of antibiogram.
10) Microbial genetics and the effects of antimicrobial agents and resistance mechanisms of microorganisms.
11) Disinfection, antisepsis and sterilization methods and antimicrobials used in this field.
12) Introduction to Basic Mycology adn general characteristics of the pathogenic fungi.
13) General features of foot fungus diseases
14) Foot fungal diseases, and samples to be taken, sending to the laboratory.
15) Preparation of mycological laboratory preparation, dyeing, direct microscopic diagnostic methods.
16) Final examination
