Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Use terminology of equine anatomy.
2) Describe the anatomical structure of the horse.
3) Identify the structure and functions of the systems associated with support and movement (i.e. skeletal and muscular systems).
4) Identify the superficial ligaments (nuchal, sacro iliac, sacro sciatic, suspensory ) and the tendons
5) Identify the location and state the functional importance of the superficial muscles
6) Identify the structure and function of the digestive and excretory system
7) Identify the structure and function of the respiratory and nervous system.
8) List and describe the major parts of the female reproductive tract.

Course Contents

This course covers the following topics: basic terminology /section / concepts of anatomy, cranium, systems which includes cells and joints , skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and lymphatic, nervous, endocrine, digestive, respiratory, urinary, reproductive and topographic anatomy.
