Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Identify the horse riding and equestrian sports.
2) Discuss the responsibilities undertaken including horse care and natural requirements of horses.
3) Apply the horse leading, horse care, horse tacking up, natural walking of horse boarding and mounting-dismounting.
4) Determine environmental field of the horse riding.
5) Identify horse tacks and equipments

Course Contents

Topics include basic equipment for horses, leading horses and basic level of horse riding.

Weekly Schedule

1) Introduce student to horse
2) Introduce student to horse
3) Horse Safety Tips: Approaching And Positioning
4) Explain how to put a halter and lead rope on , explain how to hold lead rope so it won't hurt you if the horse pulls away
5) Show student how to lead horse; help student lead horse in several large circles; how to stop horse and start; take horse into barn
6) Explain what brushes to use and why and teach student to brush horse, brush mane and tail, pick out hooves
