Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Knows the definition and history of jewelry, recognizes and uses hand tools, machines and other materials used in the jewelry workshop.
2) Knows and uses the tools and machines in the workshop, paying attention to the workshop rules in terms of occupational health and safety.
3) Knows jewelery production techniques and practically uses the metal, wax, tools and machines used in these techniques.
4) It carries out the leveling process, which is one of the jewelry production techniques, using files, sanders, milling motors, handpiece bits and polishing machines.
5) He cuts geometric forms, letters and various motif patterns from metal plates such as brass, copper and silver with the openwork technique.
6) Basit alyans yüzük, küpe, kolye ve bileklik gibi takıların kalıplarını mum modelaj tekniğiyle mumdan yapar.

Course Contents

In this course, the student knows the definition and history of jewelry, recognizes and uses hand tools, machines and other materials used in the jewelry workshop. Knows and uses the tools and machines in the workshop, paying attention to the workshop rules in terms of occupational health and safety. Knows jewelery production techniques and practically uses the metal, wax, tools and machines used in these techniques. It performs the leveling process, which is one of the jewelry production techniques, using files, sanders, milling motors, handpiece bits and polishing machines. He cuts geometric forms, letters and various motif patterns from metal plates such as brass, copper and silver with the openwork technique. He makes molds for jewelry such as simple wedding rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets from wax using the wax modeling technique.

Weekly Schedule

1) Definition, history and importance of jewelry in the industry.
2) General introduction of the jewelry workshop and the introduction, use and maintenance of the hand tools used here.
3) Introduction, use and maintenance of machines used in the jewelry workshop.
4) Workshop rules, how to use the workshop in terms of occupational health and safety, and a general description of all jewelry production techniques
5) Introduction of the openwork technique, one of the jewelery production techniques, and the practical use of the metal, tools and machines used in this technique.
6) Cutting geometric forms, letter and motif patterns from brass and copper metal plates with openwork technique

9) Introduction of the leveling process, one of the jewelery production techniques; Practical use of files, sanders, milling motors, handpieces and other tools and machines used in this technique.
10) Leveling of geometric shapes, letters and motifs cut with openwork technique.
11) Introduction and practical use and maintenance of the polishing machine in the workshop
12) Introduction of the wax modeling technique, one of the jewelry production techniques, and the practical use of wax, tools and machines used in this technique.
13) Wax modeling of cube, cylinder, sphere and similar simple geometric forms using wax modeling technique.
14) Making wax molds of simple wedding rings and different ring forms using wax modeling technique.
15) Making wax molds of jewelry such as rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets using wax modeling techniques, using techniques that cover all period information.
