Course Contents

Chemistry science and aim of chemistry, descriptions and properties of matter, units and modular conversion, significant numbers, measurements of mass, volume and density, structure of atom and atom theories, table of elements, chemical equations, chemical bonds, mole concept, chemical equilibrium, enthalpy concept, properties of asid and bases, solution and its properties.

Weekly Schedule

1) Introduction, description and aim of chemistry, materials and properties of them.
2) SI units, metric systems, derived units, measurement and calculations, chemical calculations, expressive numbers.
3) Basic rules of chemistry and problem solutions related to these rules.
4) Structure of atom, electron, neutron, proton, isotope, allotrope, atom number and periods rule, problem solutions related to structure of atom.
5) Periodical table and properties of it, properties of elements, classification of elements, electronical structure of elements, to bridge orbitales and problem solutions.
6) Chemical bonds and properties of them, chemical properties of ionical bonded ceramic materials, chemical properties of covalent bonded ceramic materials, ionization energies, electron affinity.
7) Mole concept, to derive formula.
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Chemical equations, problem solutions related to chemical equations.
10) Enthalpy concept, Hess rule, embodied enthalphies, problem solutions.
11) Entrophy concept, problem solutions.
12) Mixed problem solutions related to enthalpy and entropy calculations.
13) Properties of asids and bases, oxidation-reduction reactions.
14) Solutions and properties of them.
15) Problem solving related to solutions.
