Course Contents

Basic concepts of statics, strength and construction process and the unit system, tension and compression stress, stress-strain plot. rigitity module and the safety factor. Reading material strength tables. Tensile and compressive stresses, shear (cutting) stress, bending stress. torsional stresses. Solution of problems related with static and dynamic loading of machine components. Classification of machine components. The power transmission in shafts and shaft design. Connecting elements, welding and types, strength calculations and sample problem solutions. Solutions of the strength of the gear problem.
