Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Design multidimensional static and fatigue failure criteria for different materials and machine component.
2) Design and analyze permanent (riveted, welded, etc.) and detachable joints (bolts, keys, pins, etc.) under various loading conditions.
3) Calculate shaft-hub joints.
4) Design and calculate power transmission by axle and shaft.
5) Realize properties of clutches which are used on fixed and non fixed shaft connections.
6) Realize properties and choosing of rolling bearing and areas of usege, calculate methods and sizing of gear wheel.

Course Contents

This course covers, the elements which are used for composing the machine elements (joining elements): welded joints, bolted joints, shaft-hub joints, supporting and power transmission elements; axles and shafts, joining elements such as clutches, supporting elements such as bearings and power and motion transmission elements, such as gearwheels.
