Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Describe the concepts of moving resistance of vehicles, the types of resistance, and their formation.
2) Explain drive force, drive torque, the drive characteristics and basic relations.
3) Explain axle loads and the relationship with driving force.
4) Describe the concepts of acceleration limit, slope limit, speed limit and basic relations with these concepts.
5) Use the basic relations of braking and stopping.
6) Resolve the various problems of vehicle mechanics.

Course Contents

Motion resistances. Occurring of motion resistances and their effects on vehicle. Traction force and traction moment. Static and dynamic axle loads. Traction characteristics. Acceleration limit, grading ability, maximum velocity. Cornering equilibrium. Braking and stopping distance.
