Course Contents

Definition of prestressed concrete. Theory and example structures. Prestressing tendons. Members with pre-tensioning and post-tensioning. Prestress losses in tendons. Friction losses. Effect of creep and shrinkage on the prestressed losses. Fatigue failure. Type of reinforcement and their stress strain response. Behavior under flexure with/without axial load. Flexural theory. Shear and torsion. Design of disturbed regions. Design of bridge beams. Introduction to the design of prestressed buildings.
